Like all AI tools, Rosebud has important limitations that can range from minor factual inaccuracies to AI Hallucinations. Understanding these limitations can help you get the most out of your experience with Rosebud.

AI Hallucinations

AI hallucinations happen when artificial intelligence systems generate false information that sounds legitimate and credible. This is a well-documented limitation that affects all AI tools.
How do AI Hallucinations affect Rosebud?
AI hallucinations in Rosebud most commonly happen when you ask for external information (like research articles, current events, or factual data) that you have not shared in your journal entries.
Rosebud excels at helping you process your thoughts and feelings, but it should not be your source for research, news, or technical information. Rosebud cannot access external databases, research articles, or real-time information outside of the journal entries you’ve written.
If you ask Rosebud questions about these, it will try to be helpful by:
  • Creating information that seems to support your thoughts or validate your feelings
  • Generating responses that align with your previous entries and preferences
  • Maintaining its supportive, reflective role even when it should acknowledge its limitations

Actions outside of your journal entries

Rosebud cannot perform any actions beyond responding to your journal entries.
"Remind me to call my doctor tomorrow"
Rosebud cannot actually take any actions outside of responding to you in your journal entries. You can set up for your Morning and Evening reflection in your app settings.
"Change my language setting to Spanish"
Rosebud has no capability of changing any of your app settings, but it will likely respond positively as if it can help, which can be confusing.
"Set an alarm for 8 AM”
Rosebud cannot send emails, set alarms, make appointments, or interact with other apps or services outside of your journal entries.

Time and Date References

Currently, Rosebud doesn't have a great sense of time, which can sometimes lead to inaccuracies when referencing dates, but we are working on improving this.
To help Rosebud connect related entries more accurately, try referencing topics or themes in your follow-ups rather than timeframes.
Instead of "What exactly did I say last Tuesday?" Try "What did I write about my job interview?"
💡
For beta users: Go to Rosebud Settings > Experiments > and enable Enhanced Memory for improved timing reference.

Technical questions about Rosebud’s features

Rosebud can access what you've written about your thoughts, feelings and experiences but it doesn't track technical details like new features or how it processes information.
In these situations, instead of saying "I can't help with that," Rosebud may generate seemingly credible but incorrect instructions
Example: “Can I add photos to my entries?”
Rosebud might respond: I can only process text-based entries. However, you can always describe any photos or visual experiences in your entries, and I'll be here to help you reflect on them. If there's anything specific you'd like to discuss or explore, feel free to share! ← WRONG! You can actually to your entries.

How to get the best results from Rosebud ✨

Focus on personal reflection questions about your journal entries:
"What growth have you noticed in how I deal with challenges?"
Ask about patterns or insights from your own writing:
"What patterns do you see in how I handle stress?"
Use Rosebud for emotional support:
"How can I approach this situation more positively?"
