If Rosebud suddenly stops working on your home Wi-Fi — but works fine on cellular data — the problem is usually a security feature on your internet provider's router, not the app itself.
Some providers include built-in "advanced security" that inspects your traffic and can mistakenly flag a safe site as a threat. When that happens, the router blocks the connection between your device and Rosebud.
What it looks like
- Your entry never gets a response, or saving fails
- Voice transcription doesn't work
- Go Deeper, finishing an entry, reflections, or your weekly report fail to load
- An error message mentioning a secure connection, TLS, or SSL
- Everything works again on cellular data or a different Wi-Fi network
Check if this is the cause
Turn off Wi-Fi on your device, switch to cellular data, and open Rosebud again. If it works, your Wi-Fi network is what's blocking the connection.
How to fix it
Xfinity
Xfinity's xFi Advanced Security is the most common cause we've seen.
- Open the Xfinity app
- Go to your WiFi settings and find Advanced Security
- Turn Advanced Security off
- Reopen Rosebud
You can turn Advanced Security back on later. We've reported the issue to Xfinity and asked them to remove the block on Rosebud.
Other providers
Look for a similar setting in your provider's router app — it may be called Advanced Security, Web Protection, or Safe Browsing. Turning it off, or allowing
my.rosebud.app, restores the connection.VPNs, ad blockers, and shared networks
VPNs, ad blockers (like Brave Shield), and workplace, school, or public Wi-Fi networks can block Rosebud in the same way. Try turning off the VPN or ad blocker, or connect to a different network.
